Transformation Bolsters Retailer’s Omni-Channel Performance to Save Millions

HICKORY, NC (June 25, 2018) – Transportation Insight, a global Enterprise Logistics Provider and end-to-end supply chain strategist, received an SDCE 100 Best Supply Chain Project Award from Supply & Demand Chain Executive. The multi-modal transportation expert is saluted for its B2B/B2C parcel logistics optimization solutions that transform retailers’ omni-channel commerce strategies and accelerate response to rapidly changing consumer demands. Transportation Insight’s project to architect a parcel supply chain solution for a large global retailer improved the delivery and returns experience for its e-commerce consumers, as well as its service to the physical store replenishment network. Leveraging the Insight Parcel® logistics offering, the retailer removed 21 percent of its transportation expense, equivalent to an annual savings of over $6.5 million.

“Whether customers are buying products online or in brick-and-mortar stores, shippers need to ensure the right products are at the right location at the right time, which requires an optimized supply chain network and a robust, parcel-centric, multi-modal solution that allows businesses to maximize their client relationships with sustained value,” says Transportation Insight President and CEO Chris Baltz. “Our Insight Parcel platform is recognized for its effectiveness in helping shippers meet their end customers’ ever-growing demands for quicker shipments, while maintaining their business profitability. We are pleased to receive this prestigious award for helping our client gain an operational and financial competitive advantage by leveraging our expertise, technology and analytics to re-engineer their supply chain.”

Transportation Insight combined data collection and analysis with deep logistics expertise to engineer solutions that helped the client retailer realize improved visibility to its cost to serve for each SKU and enhanced invoice audit cost avoidance. By optimizing the client’s parcel shipping processes to better align internal operations with carrier service provider strengths and supplement national carrier networks with the U.S. Postal Service Priority Mail system, Transportation Insight worked alongside the client to improve delivery and return service for its major department store presence, individual store locations and e-commerce channel that serves both consumers and its nationwide network of company-owned stores. As a trusted adviser, the lead logistics provider also helped the retailer consolidate orders from three separate factories at one overseas shipping point. Leveraging a customized version of Transportation Insight’s Advanced Analytics portal to track key metrics, the client was able to determine the success of cost mitigation strategies and uncover opportunities for short- and long-term program refinement.

“First and foremost, we want to congratulate the winners of this year’s Top 100 for their successful and innovative projects, which serve as models to companies of all sizes for what is achievable in their supply chains,” says John Yuva, editor of Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “Regardless of company size, these projects are best-in-class examples of the types of efficiencies and bottom-line results that supply chain executives should be striving toward in their own operations. Our 2018 winners provide a roadmap for how to get there.”

The 2018 SDCE 100 spotlights the industry’s most successful and transformational projects that deliver value to enterprises across a range of supply chain functions. The supply chain projects offer a forward-looking perspective for the industry on new opportunities designed to drive operational success.
