Why learn more about TMS Logistics?

Transportation management systems are becoming increasingly popular. They’re going to continue to do so as businesses seek technology that can help them execute their freight shipments more efficiently.

According to Gartner research Vice President of Technology Bart De Muynck, the current TMS adoption rate in the supply chain marketplace is about 29%. That is expected to climb over 31% by next year maybe higher. Utilization has come on stronger as we continue to see TMS cost decline and ease of use improve.

The increased rate of usage is not because it’s neat or trendy or it’s cutting edge. It is because logistics is becoming more complex. The only way you can execute your operational strategy is to have a systemic way to capture business rules and implement those. And so, as you navigate through all the dynamics that are in the industry, you have to have the ability to be able to execute that business strategy.

Of course, this is good news for shippers and TMS providers but we’re seeing an increasing number of transportation technology solutions arriving in the marketplace. That’s raising a lot of questions.
